Brief
Introduction
Tongtian Grottoes Scenic
Spot is a national key cultural relic
protection unit. It is a national AAAA
-level tourism area and also a
provincial-level scenic place of
interest. It is located in northeast to
a distance of 6.8 km from Ganzhou City.
The cover of it is 6 km2.
There’re elegant mountains and green
waters around there. The scenic spot has
four characteristics as unique
Danxia landform, profound
grotto culture, numerous culture relic
historical sites, and pleasing
environment.
The main scenic spot, the Grottoes on
Tongtian Cliff was built in Tang
Dynasty, bloomed in Beisong Dynasty.
There are 359 stone images built from
Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty and 128
inscription carved on the cliff from
Song Dynasty to the years of the
Republic of China.
It is the biggest grotto in Jiangnan
Area, and it is the most southerly point
in China in terms of geographical
position. Therefore it is called The
No.1 Grotto in Jiangnan Area. The
representative scenic spots of
Tongtian Grottoes include
Wanggui Cliff, Tongxin Cliff, Tongtian
Cliff and Cuiwei Cliff. It has been
thousands of years since it was built.
Many famous people visited here such as
Su Dongpo, Wang Yangming and Jiang
Jingguo,etc. This makes Tongtian Cliff
known home and abroad. The new scenic
area combining the Tongtian grottoes
makes a perfect connection of history
and modern as well as a harmonic union
of nature and culture. The new scenic
area adds six functional areas including
Caved Area, Qingyuan Garden, Longfeng
Garden, Twelve Animal Signs Garden, Life
Assemble Garden and Amusement Garden on
Water. It is a good place for people to
have fun on holidays. Main scenic spot
includes Danya Sleeping Buddha of
23.66m, Marble Dishui Guanyin of 9.99m,
images of famous people in all the
dynasties in Ganzhou, Thousand Buddha
Cave and Caishen Temple.
